Y tu mamá también is a coming-of-age story, a road movie, a drama about love and friendship, as well as a political parable. 17-year-old best friends Julio and Tenoch invite the ten-year-older but very sexy Luisa (Spanish star actress Maribel Verdú) on a trip to the beach. Their destination: the imaginary Boca del Cielo. She takes up the offer, and the three of them set off on a journey to nowhere right across Mexico in a clapped-out old family car – a journey that proves to be full of unexpected discoveries.
