World Cinema Amsterdam opent dit jaar met de vertoning van Asghar Farhadi's A Separation – een Iraans meesterwerk dat dit jaar nog de Gouden Beer in Berlijn won. Regisseur Farhadi is bij deze voorstelling aanwezig. Na afloop is er een feestelijke openingsborrel, waar iedereen van harte welkom is. (zie ook p ???]

Indian Party
Na Q's (Kaushik Mukherjee) rap-musical Gandu (Asshole) op zaterdagavond hoef je nog lang niet naar huis. Op de beats van een Indiase DJ gaat het festival door tot in de kleine uurtjes op de Indian Party. Ook 'Q' is van de partij.

Iranian Party
Heeft de muziek van de openluchtvoorstelling Circumstance je al goed in de stemming gebracht? Kom dan na de film naar Rialto voor de Iranian Party en dans op de exotische mix van westerse en oosterse beats van DJ Ishtar. Met dank aan het Iraans Film Festival.

Slotfeest World Cinema Amsterdam: Brazilian Summer Sessions
De adrenaline giert door je lijf na afloop van de openluchtvoorstelling Tropa de elite 2 (zie p ???), de opwindende misdaadfilm van de Braziliaanse regisseur José Padhilla. Dan ben je precies in de juiste stemming voor het spetterende slotfeest Brazilian Summer Sessions – een wereld van zwoele klanken en opzwepende ritmes… In samenwerking met A Hora do Brasil.
So what's a festival without parties? Right, nothing. World Cinema Amsterdam, as the name suggests, makes you move on beats from all over the world.
Wednesday 10 August, 9.30 PM - Opening
World Cinema Amsterdam 2011 opens with the screening of Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation, an Iranian masterpiece awarded the Golden Bear at this year’s Berlin Film Festival. Filmmaker Farhadi will be present at the screening. Everybody is invited for opening drinks at the festival café after the screening.
Thursday 11 August, 7.30 PM - A Separation premiere
After the screening of A Separation there will be a Q&A with director Asghar Farhadi by Sahand Sahebdivani plus a live performance by Shervin Najafian (No One Knows About Persian Cats). You will also receive some refreshing Iranian dough.
11 – 16 Augustus - Meet me @ World Cinema Amsterdam Drinks
Many international directors will be our guests during World Cinema Amsterdam. But when do you get the chance to meet them? From 11 to 16 August the festival café in Rialto will be the place to be. From 11 till 16 August, each night the directors wll join in for a drink between 9 and 10 pm. Don’t miss this chance to meet directors from all over the world.
If you have a Cineville pass, you will get one Indian Cobra-beer for free (when showing the voucher you will receive while purchasing your film ticket).
Saturday 13 August, 11 PM – 3 AM - Indian Party
The fun doesn’t stop after the screening of Kaushik Mukherjee’s (Q) rap musical Gandu (Asshole) on Saturday. Afterwards, you can dance well into the night on the beats of dj Don during the Indian Party. ‘Q’ himself will be present as well.

How about coming over to Rialto afterwards for the Persian Midsummer Dance, where you can dance on DJ Ishtar’s exotic mix of Western and Eastern beats. At 0.00 AM dancer Sheyda gives a performance.
