Opening Brazilian Stories
Brazilië filmland – Brazilian Stories: vrijdag opent het focusprogramma feestelijk met de vertoning van A cidade é uma só van Adirley Queirós, een bijzondere film over een merkwaardige episode uit de geschiedenis van de hoofdstad Brasilia – een fascinerende mix van documentaire en fictie. Na afloop worden de aanwezigen getrakteerd op een heerlijk drankje.

Uma noite de música brasileira
Als er één volk gek is op muziek, dan is het wel het Braziliaanse. Niet vreemd dus dat er in Brazilië ook heel veel muziekfilms worden gemaakt. En dat is te merken tijdens World Cinema Amsterdam!
Zo kun je fascinerende muziekdocumentaires zien bij Brazilian Summer Sessions Docs, speciaal voor het festival geselecteerd in samenwerking met A Hora do Brasil. De 'sessions' openen op zaterdag met TROPICÁLIA.
Daarna is het tijd voor Cachaça Cinema Clube. Film en een drankje: in Rio de Janeiro bestaat het concept al jaren. In de oude Cine Odeon komen publiek, filmmakers en vertoners regelmatig samen om bijzondere korte films te kijken - natuurlijk met een glaasje cachaça. Zaterdag komt de Clube tot leven in Rialto!
Vanaf middennacht: dansen op de opzwepende muziek van DJ Paulao, die dit jaar ook verantwoordelijk is voor de muziek bij de festivaltrailer.

Brazilian Party (i.s.m. A Hora do Brasil)
Op vrijdagavond wordt het Marie Heinekenplein opgewarmd door DJ Paulao, zodat je helemaal in de juiste stemming komt voor de heerlijke tragikomedie O PALHAÇO (THE CLOWN). Maar dan is de koek nog niet op – het feest gaat verder in Rialto, waar dezelfde DJ Paulao met zijn muziek het Rialto Café tot een kookpunt zal brengen!

World Cinema Amsterdam Closing Party
Een avond in puur Latijns-Amerikaanse sferen – hoe kun je een festival beter afsluiten dan zo! Op het Marie Heinekenplein is de Argentijnse film MÍA te zien, dj van dienst op het plein is de Braziliaanse DJ Glaucio. Na de film komt hij naar Rialto om de bezoekers tot diep in de nacht te trakteren op zijn 'hot latin tribal house, Brazilian style' .

Uma noite de música brasileira
If there is one nation that absolutely adores music, it is Brazil. It is therefore no big surprise that many music films are produced in Brazil. This is reflected in this year’s World Cinema Amsterdam programming. During Brazilian Summer Sessions Docs fascinating music documentaries are screened, especially selected for this purpose with A Hora do Brasil. The ‘sessions’ on Saturday start with
Tropicália.
Next up is the
Cachaça Cinema Clube. Film and drinks, a concept that has been a big hit in Rio de Janeiro for quite some years now. A film audience, filmmakers and screeners regularly meet at the old Cine Odeon to watch shorts – and of course sip at their cachaça. On Saturday, the Clube meets for a one-off at Rialto! Right before and right after the films you can enjoy DJ Alice Spitz’ music. After midnight you can dance to the rhythmic sounds of DJ Paulo Cosac, who is also the man behind this year’s festival trailer music.

Brazilian Party (with A Hora do Brasil)
On Friday night, Marie Heinekenplein will be warmed up by DJ Paulo Cosac to get you in the perfect mood for the splendid tragicomedy O palhaço (The Clown). But that is definitely not all: afterwards the party will be continued at Rialto, again with DJ Paulo Cosac whose music will up the energy at Rialto Café to fever pitch!

World Cinema Amsterdam Closing Party
An evening with a truly Latin-American feel: that’s the best way to conclude a festival! At Marie Heinekenplein the Argentinian film Mía is screened, with Brazilian DJ Glaucio present to set the mood. After the screening he will join us at Rialto to treat us all to his 'hot latin tribal house, Brazilian style'.
