World Cinema Amsterdam presents the special focus of this year's edition: Cine Caribe! A programme that brings to Amsterdam the best and most beautiful films from Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic, Curaçao and Haiti.

The 6th edition of World Cinema Amsterdam (14 - 23 Aug) will be officially opened on Friday 14 August at Rialto with IXCANUL, a film from Guatemala debut director Jayro Bustamante.

World Cinema Amsterdam has invited Sahand Sahebdivani to introduce the première of the film Taxi Teheran on Thursday, June 11 at 7.30 pm. Sahebdivani is an Iranian storyteller, writer, musician and the owner of the Mezrab cultural center. When he was three years old, his family fled from their home in Iran. Sahebdivani tells stories to keep his family's history and culture safe.

As in previous years, World Cinema Amsterdam will again also takes place in the open air, with four beautiful films screening outdoors. The open air films for this 6th WCA come from Peru, Colombia, Cuba and India. The films will start as soon as the sun sets (9.30 pm). But of course, you are absolutely welcome to come earlier and enjoy drinks, bites and tunes from our DJ.
